🏔challenge: “Keeping up morale within my organization has been really tough with everything going on in the world. How can I make sure I am meeting the needs of all of our employees without being overwhelmed by it?” – organizational leader
✨opportunity: In tough or uncertain times, it’s natural for folks to feel worn down or low motivation. Here’s my take on how to navigate keeping up morale >>
- Communication is key. Sometimes we make assumptions about how people feel. Take time to check in relationally with your team members and ask how you can support them. Be a person who genuinely cares. It’s a rarity.
- Provide resources. These resources could look like any number of things depending on your organization. Maybe that’s a mental health afternoon off. Maybe a coffee/tea gift card. Be sure to ask so you’re supporting in ways they want to be supported.
- Respect boundaries. Everyone processes everything differently. Some may want to be more open with you, others may prefer to keep their feelings to themselves. Whatever their posture, respect boundaries and lead with empathy.
In this overwhelming world, I hope you’re also taking time for you. As leaders, it’s important for us to check in on ourselves and ask for what we need.
